The Social Work pathway allows Jackson State graduates to work in one of the fastest
growing careers identified by the U.S. Department of Labor: Community Services and
Mental Health. The health care and social assistance industry is projected to create
about 28% of all new jobs in the U.S. economy through 2016. Our graduates go on to
complete the Bachelors of Social Work and find work at local and regional service
agencies as Licensed Social Workers. Many of our students have gone on for their
Masters in Social Work at the University of Memphis, Union University, UT Martin,
and the University of Michigan, specializing in such fields as medical social work,
school social work, clinical social work, and elderly social work. If students would
like to be a resource for individuals and families who need help and guidance, the
Social Work pathway offers a valuable route to a satisfying career.
