Honors Lecture Series - Poet Gaylord Brewer

Jackson, Tenn. - Jackson State Community College will present Poet Gaylord Brewer for a poetry reading as part of its Arts and Sciences Honors Program Series at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 in the Writing Center in the Library building. Brewer will read and sign copies of his latest volume of poems, 'The Martini Diet,' which was the winner of the 2006 Orphic Prize for poetry.

Brewer, a professor of English at Middle Tennessee State University, is the author of several books of poetry including 'Barbaric Mercies,' 'Exit Pursued by a Bear' and 'Let Me Explain.' He is founding editor of the journal of 'Poems and Plays.' His poems have been published in dozens of literary journals and he has had work featured in 'Best American Poetry 2006,' in the 'Bedford Introduction to Literature' and on Garrison Keillor's NPR program 'The Writer's Almanac.'
