Vaughn, Rountree appointed to leadership of JSCC Foundation Board

The Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Foundation Board of Directors have appointed Cary Vaughn and John Rountree as the Chair and Vice Chair, respectively.

Cary Vaughn graduated from the University of Memphis at Lambuth with a B.A. in Communications. Vaughn is the CEO and President of Love Worth Finding Ministries, Inc. and has served in leadership positions on numerous boards and committees throughout West Tennessee such as the Leadership Millington Steering Committee, University of Tennessee at Martin – Board of Directors for the WestStar Leadership Program and the Ned Ray McWherter Institute (NRMI), and Chair and President of the Historic Archives of Rosemark and Environs, Inc. (H.A.R.E.).

In addition to his recent appointment as Chair of the JSCC Foundation Board of Directors, Vaughn also serves as Chair of the Millington Education Foundation Board of Directors. He has served in various capacities on the JSCC Foundation Board as a trustee, board chair, and vice chair for twelve years. In the past, he has also served as Chair of the Memphis YMCA Board of Directors, Jackson State Community College Foundation Board of Trustees, Lambuth University Alumni Association, and Tennessee Association of Community Leaders Board of Directors.

Vaughn has been recognized with the 2000 Alumnus of the Year Award (Lambuth University), John G. Tower Distinguished Alumni Award (Kappa Sigma Fraternity), C.P. Boyd Leadership Award (WestStar), 2014 Red Triangle Award (Memphis YMCA), 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award (Millington YMCA), and as the 2016 and 2020 Person of the Year for the City of Millington. He was also recently awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy by the JSCC Foundation due to his community involvement and ongoing support.

“The future is looking mighty bright here at Jackson State for both the institution and the Foundation,” said Vaughn. “I am thankful to my fellow trustees for bestowing this honor upon me to serve as Chair, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together.”

In 2015, he established the Vaughn Family Leadership Scholarship to provide tuition funding for high school seniors who show leadership potential through involvement in their church, community, and other charitable endeavors.

John Rountree, the newly appointed Vice Chair of the JSCC Foundation board, is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a B.A. in Executive Leadership. After working for several years as the Regional Sales Manager for a railroad contractor working across the Southeast, Rountree began working as an Area Sales Manager for Safelite AutoGlass in July 2011. He served as the Operations Manager of the Memphis Market in 2014 and in 2017 was promoted to District Manager over all operations in West Tennessee, Arkansas, and North Mississippi.

In addition to serving on the JSCC Foundation Board since 2017, Rountree is a board member for the Ronald McDonald House, Millington Chamber of Commerce, WestStar Alumni Counsel, the Rotary, and the YMCA.

He was also the Safelite AutoGlass Hall of Fame Award Winner in 2017.

In addition to the new Chair and Vice Chair appointees, four others were recently appointed as trustees. Delaney Timberman, Joe T. Woods, Dr. Burton Williams, and Hannah Gore, the youngest trustee ever appointed, were also recently instated on the board.
