Duties
The HR Manager will partner, plan, coordinate, and implement HR activities for the Jackson manufacturing plant. The HR Manager will work as a Business Partner to the Plant Manager to develop and execute human resource initiatives that support the Valparaiso Team Members in making UGN a Great Place to Work. Reporting into this role will be a HR Generalist and an HR Administrator.
Responsibilities of the Plant HR Manager:
Drive a focus on the UGN Way and our core values of Trust, Respect and Communication
Drive Talent Growth initiatives throughout the organization including personalized development of high potentials and emerging leaders from front line to leadership levels
Serve as an advisor to the leadership team by providing insight, coaching and HR related solutions to business challenges
Provide functional coaching to business leaders in the effective management and development of their teams
Facilitate and integrate talent planning and acquisition to identify world class talent for current and future hiring needs
Lead Human Resources related projects both for this location and across UGN as a broader organization
Work with Corporate HR Team (L&D Manager, Compensation & Benefits, Senior HR Manager, etc. to create and deliver interventions to support Team Member and business needs
Safety:
Develop and train team members in safety programs to maintain UGN safety standards and compliance with federal or state regulations
Implement policies, plans and procedures required by OSHA. Ensure safety enforcement by department managers
Coordinate monthly Safety Committee meetings and plant safety inspections
Utilize investigating procedures, medical counseling, team member communications and money management strategies to minimize lost time and worker's compensation costs
Coordinate industrial hygiene and ergonomic studies and implement solutions to identified problem areas
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in Human Resources or in a related experience
Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment is required
Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to develop and integrate HR and business strategies
Excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation and presentation skills
Demonstrated high level of ownership and accountability
Strong employee relations/interpersonal communication skills with all levels
Ability to work in a fast paced environment where quick decision making skills are required
Aility to prioritize/juggle multiple responsibilities and problem solve
Experience leading safety and knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations
