Steps to Enrolling as a Dual Enrollment Student

High school students who are interested in Dual Enrollment with JSCC are required to do the following:

  1. Talk with your school counselor to determine eligibility and high school scheduling
  2.  DE Participation Requirements:
    • Possess a 3.0 minimum high school GPA and satisfy specific course requirements using one of the following:
      • 3.0 High School GPA AND satisfy specific course requirements by one of the following ways: 
      • Have a 3.6 or higher HS GPA, which satisfies most course requirements. 
      • ACT Scores of 18 English, 19 Reading, and 19 Math (SAT and Pre-ACT/SAT also accepted)
  3. Application & Required Documents:
  4. Eligibility Verification of Entitlements Act (EVEA) Documentation:
    • Submit a copy of your driver’s license, state-issued I.D., official birth certificate, or passport to
  5. TN Dual Enrollment Grant Application: 
    • Submit an application:
    • Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) provides one grant per semester towards tuition for high school juniors and seniors enrolled in college credit courses. Students may qualify for two additional grants in the same semester if they have a 3.0 or 21 Composite ACT score (21 ACT score is required for home school students). 
    • Students must maintain a 2.75 College GPA (different from HS GPA) to receive the grant in future semesters
  6. Consortium Agreement: 
    • If you will be taking a course with two or more institutions during the term, you must complete a consortium agreement form for the institution listed on your TN Dual Enrollment Grant Application for the term.
